Our house came with oak floors in every room except the kitchens and bathrooms. Luckily, the first floor unit was recently refinished before the purchase. Our unit, however…
was not in good shape; in all likelihood, the previous owners did not have the floors redone in decades. Floor sanding became a top priority before moving in. As stated in a previous post, Tig and I had a difference of opinion on whether floor refinishing was a do-it-yourself project. In the end, we hired out.

Tom was recommended by my colleague, who is also in the middle of a renovation.

Tom and his helper sanded for most of the day. We decided on three coats of oil based polyurethane: semi-gloss, glossy, and final coat of semi-gloss. After a week, we saw the results. At that time, we were in the middle of bathroom demolition among other things. We were glad it got done in time for the movers!
