Let me clarify. Not an attack from a marine mammal, like a great white shark, but these new fangled plumbing connections called SharkBite made by Cash Acme. It’s a simple “push-fit” connection system that works on copper, PEX, and CPVC.
Working with copper, all you have to do is push the copper pipe into the connection about an inch down and you’re done. There are stainless steel teeth inside the connector (hence the name shark bite) that clamps onto the pipe. But there’s also a rubber O-ring that creates a tight seal. So what’s the drawback? Of course it costs more, but when time is of the essence, and you don’t want to sodder in tight places, it’s a godsend.
