One of the last things to do on the driveway is to line the edges with large cobbles. These cobble stones are white granite stones cut to approximately 5″ x 5″x 9″. This size is called “regulation” sized cobbles.
You can see the palette of cobbles and the three rows of cobbles that line the outer edge of the parking spots.
Next I used the plate compactor (for the final time) to tamp all the pavers into the bed below and to make sure the 3 rows of cobbles are stable. (The previous night, I poured a small strip of fast-setting concrete on the far left side of the cobbles to keep them relatively in place).
The other 3 sides of the parking spots only require 1 row of cobbles as decorative edging. There’s actually a plastic edge restraint nailed into place that hold the concrete pavers in place (you can see it in black in the pictures above).
And the finished product …
.. with car in place.
Not too shabby. (Too bad there’s still a little left to do)
