Give up? It’s dried up latex paint from the paint tray liners. After using up all the paint in the tray liner for a particular color, we let the paint dry. Before putting the liner away, we label it with the color and brand.

The next time we use the same paint, we pull out the corresponding tray liner, make sure there’s no dirt on it and use it again. After the 4th or 5th time, the layers of paint get so caked that I can pull it off and start fresh with a clean tray liner again. The paint comes off in large sheets, like plastic.
