Closed today on our home. Woohoo!
As we signed our life away to the bank, our attorney quipped “Have you heard of the Golden Rule? The one who has the gold, makes the rules.”

The first night, we made one of our many trips to Home Depot. We’d been many times in the past month, scoping tools and materials out, but never really bought anything of significance (partly b/c we don’t like spending money). But this night there was no holding back. It did not help that we arrived an hour before closing. We were running through all the aisles, throwing stuff into our cart, like it was a game show shopping spree. Ten minutes past closing, we finally made it to the last open register. Then another 10 minutes just to ring everything up, including our special order bathroom items. Then, just before we were about to pay, we handed them the elusive 10% off Home Depot coupon.
But then the cashier screwed up the coupon. She accidentally made the whole order the coupon amount. Too bad, her manager was standing right behind her waiting to close the register. So we had to ring up all the items over again (over 100 items). But this time the manager wanted to ring up the items manually, just copying the SKU’s from the “messed up” receipt. About half way through, something was wrong, with ringing up the special order items with it, and then we had re-scan ALL the items again. And leave out the special order items (we’d have to come back the next day to fix that one). Thirty minutes later (and re-loading the shopping cart 3 times) we were finally in our car.
What an ordeal. At least the employees know us at that Home Depot and will remember to give us better service the next time (which they have - hard to believe, eh?).
